2. Defending a bank in a lawsuit involving the foreclosure of a hotel in Texas. The District Court granted the bank’s summary judgment motion and entered an award of attorneys’ fees in favor of the bank. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals later affirmed both awards. Part of the fee award was recently paid after the bank liened a related lawsuit filed by the plaintiff against third parties.

3. Defending an import/export company sued by a large freightforwarder over disputed shipments imported from China. The Superior Court entered a summary judgment in the importer’s favor and later found the freightforwarder responsible for the importer’s attorneys’ fees. The Court of Appeal upheld the summary judgment and affirmed the fee award. The freightforwarder paid all of the importer’s attorneys’ fees.
