Douglas G. Matsui is an associate working in the firm’s litigation department.

 

Doug has handled business disputes involving breach of contract and all manner of business torts.  The employment matters have included a diverse range of issues including sexual harassment, termination in violation of public policy, wage and hour disputes, covenants not to compete, breach of fiduciary duty, and discrimination claims including race, national origin, gender, medical condition, pregnancy, and religion.

 

Doug has handled matters for several regional and national restaurant chains (class action by franchisees, business disputes, employment issues) that included a prominent non-profit entity in various business litigation matters, and a regional bank with ongoing employment and business issues.

 

From 1988 to 1992, approximately, Doug worked for the law firm of Urland Morello Dunn & Maynard, until its acquisition by the law firm of Petit & Martin.  Prior to joining AFRCT, Doug has had his own practice dedicated to civil litigation with an emphasis on employment (both claimants and defense) and business litigation.

 

Doug graduated magna cum laude from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1985, where he was Phi Beta Kappa.  He received his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles, cum laude, in 1988 and was a member of the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society.
